Chilean soprano Yaritza Véliz is a Jette Parker Young Artist at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden (2018-2020). Yaritza joined the Programme in September 2018 and made her Royal Opera debut in the 2018/19 Season as Barbarina Le nozze di Figaro. In the 2019/20 Season she sang Papagena Die Zauberflöte; Jano Jenufa and Daniel Susanna.
In January 2020, Yaritza was awarded 3rd Prize at the Viñas Competition at the Gran Teatre del Liceu, Barcelona, she was also awarded the prize for French Opera and the prize from Teatro Real, Madrid.
In her native Chile, she has appeared at the Municipal de Santiago as Zerlina Don Giovanni; Clorinda La Cenerentola and Musetta La bohéme; for Teatro Municipal de Concepcíon as Pamina Die Zauberflöte; for Teatro Argentino de la Plata as Musetta and for Teatro Municipal de Las Condes as Luigia Castragatti Le convenienze ed inconvenienze teatrali.
Yaritza studied at the Universidad de Chile with contralto Carmen Luisa Letelier, supported by a scholarship from the Corporación de Amigos del Municipal de Santiago. She also attended the Castelton Artist Training Seminar in Virginia.
Her future engagements include her debut for the Glyndebourne Festival in a major role in a new production; her debut at the National Theatre, Prague; her role debut as Mimi La bohéme at the Verdier Festival; Pamina Die Zauberflöte and a major new role at the Municipal de Santiago, Chile and her debut with the Symphonieorchester des Bayerische Runfunks and John Eliot Gardiner singing Tebaldo Don Carlos.
