Spieltenor James Kryshak was a member of the Ensemble at the Wiener Staatsoper between 2013-15, and a member of the Ensemble at the Deutsche Oper, Berlin between 2015-2018
This season, James returns to Opéra de Lyon as Christobald in a new production of Irreohle (Schreker); he makes his debut at La Monnaie, Brussels as Chekalinsky in a new production of Pique Dame; for English Touring Opera as the Lottery Agent Der Silbersee and at the Bergen National Opera and the Edinburgh International Festival as 1st Jew Salome conducted by Edward Gardner. In future seasons, James looks forward to his debuts for Opera North; Komische Oper, Berlin and the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden.
James' recent engagements include the role of Hitler in the World Premiere of GerMANIA for Opéra de Lyon; Junger Diener Elektra and The Fool Boris Godunov at the Concertgebouw, Amsterdam; Spoletta Tosca for Opera Leipzig; the Shabby Peasant Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk for Birmingham Opera Company directed by Graham Vick and he returned to the Deutsche Oper as Rodriguez in a new production of Don Quichotte.
As a guest artist, James has recently appeared as Little Bat in Carlisle Floyd’s Susannah for the San Francisco Opera; Bob Boles Peter Grimes for the Teatro Sao Carlos, Lisbon; 1st Jew Salome for the Theatre de la Ville de Luxembourg and he made his debut at the Glyndebourne Festival as Scaramuccio Ariadne auf Naxos, and returned for Pedrillo Die Entführung aus dem Serail.

James Kryshak was a member of the Ryan Opera Center at Lyric Opera of Chicago appearing as: Scaramuccio Ariadne auf Naxos; Monostatos Die Zauberflöte, Snout A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Joe La fanciulla del West and the Second Nobleman Lohengrin.
