Spieltenor James Kryshak was a member of the Ensemble at the Wiener Staatsoper between 2013-15, and a member of the Ensemble at the Deutsche Oper, Berlin between 2015-2018
James recently appeared as Hitler in the World Premiere of GerMANIA for Opéra de Lyon and at the Concertgebouw, Amsterdam as Junger Diener Elektra. His future engagements include Spoletta Tosca for Opera Leipzig; the Fool Boris Godunov at the Concertgebouw, Amsterdam; the Shabby Peasant Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk for Birmingham Opera Company directed by Graham Vick; he'll return to the Deutsche Oper as Rodriguez in a new production of Don Quichotte and his debuts for Opéra Royal de La Monnaie, Brussels and at the Teatro Comunale di Bologna.
As a guest artist, James has recently appeared as Little Bat in Carlisle Floyd’s Susannah for the San Francisco Opera; Bob Boles Peter Grimes for the Teatro Sao Carlos, Lisbon; 1st Jew Salome for the Theatre de la Ville de Luxembourg and he made his debut at the Glyndebourne Festival as Scaramuccio Ariadne auf Naxos, and returned for Pedrillo Die Entführung aus dem Serail.
At the Deutsche Oper, James has appeared as: Pedrillo Die Entführung aus dem Serail; Junger Diener Elektra; Drunken Peasant Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk; Borsa Rigoletto; 1st Jew Salome; Monostatos Die Zauberflöte and Remendado Carmen.
At the Wiener Statsoper his roles included: The Schoolmaster The Cunning Little Vixen; Don Curzio Le nozze di Figaro; Remendado Carmen; Spoletta Tosca; Der Hirt Tristan und Isolde; Nick/Joe in La fanciulla del West and Goro Madama Butterfly.
James Kryshak was a member of the Ryan Opera Center at Lyric Opera of Chicago appearing as: Scaramuccio Ariadne auf Naxos; Monostatos Die Zauberflöte, Snout A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Joe La fanciulla del West and the Second Nobleman Lohengrin.
